Similar to the tasting and wine series that the Lucques Group typically hosts at the Tavern and Hollywood Bowl, Caroline Stein of the a.o.c. and David Wither of Grapevine Wine have partnered to host a series of wine tasting evenings and themed tastings. Friday Night Flights is hosted by Zoom and gives you the feeling of standing face to face with a winemaker and enjoying an exciting wine tasting as a group. The first event in the series will take place on Friday the 12th. February 2021, 7 p.m.
Because sometimes it can take a while to sit down at our favorite bar or restaurant to discuss with the bartender or sommelier the new wines they have in stock, Caroline and David wanted to replicate this experience at home.
We all miss the experience of eating out and being surrounded by people. It’s very frustrating for a sommelier to not be able to communicate with people and not be able to introduce new wines to their customers, because we really thrive on that interaction and the positive encouragement that comes from choosing the wines they like, says Caroline Stein.
Guests get a flight of wines in 5-ounce tasting bottles and access to a Zoom dating portal where they can taste each wine with Caroline and David. All participants will learn about the winery and its history and have access to entertaining and knowledgeable wine experts. The format will mimic the atmosphere of a wine tasting group to make the experience fully collaborative. Caroline also recommends choosing a wine pairing from the airport menu, so customers can order food during the flight.
The series begins with the LOLA wines from winemaker Seth Cripe. The $45 wine flight can be ordered online from TOCK, and orders are taken on site or can be delivered.

ABOUT THE LUCK OF THE BAND:
With the opening of their flagship restaurant, The Lucques Group, in 1998, award-winning chef and author Suzanne Goin and award-winning restaurateur Caroline Styne laid the groundwork for The Lucques Group, a Los Angeles-based hospitality company that includes two fine dining restaurants, one.o.c. and Tavern.
