An incomparable stock of rare champagnes is auctioned in June

Acker, the world’s largest wine auction house, today announced a new wine auction for the 9th and 10th auctions. June announced an unprecedented offering called the Trinity Collection. The $10 million auction brings together the basements of three of the house’s top clients in what is being called the auction of the year and Acker’s largest 2021 auction to date. While it usually offers the best wines in the world, the selection of wines from Domaine de la Romanee Conti stands out, with total sales reportedly approaching $3 million. This sale is also hailed as the largest collection of mature champagne ever offered at auction. The auction includes 877 bottles, 323 magnums, 10 jeroboams, 2 methuselahs and 30 half bottles of the legendary 1911 vintage champagne.

Richard Juhlin, the world’s foremost champagne connoisseur and founder of The Champagne Club, presented an exquisite selection of champagnes in the auction catalogue, donated by the world’s greatest champagne collector. Mr. Yulin previously worked with Acker in 2011, when he lent his expertise to an auction of 19th-century champagne bottles. Hundred-year-old bottles of champagne recovered from a wreck in the Baltic Sea have broken the world record for the most expensive bottle of champagne ever sold. All of the vintage bottles from leading champagne dealers included in this newly published catalogue have been thoroughly checked for authenticity, and many of them rarely make it to market. This includes 128 bottles Salon 1928, 36 bottles Pol Roger 1921, 214 different sizes Louis Roederer 1928, 114 bottles Dom Perignon and Moet & Chandon 1911 and 280 bottles Krug 1943.

It’s a great selection of bottles, enthuses John Capon, president of Acker. I have personally witnessed the care and passion with which the three cellars that make up the Trinity Collection were created, and it is with great pride that I present this extraordinary catalogue to the public. The number of the DRC’s best wines is breathtaking. This historic selection of champagne was examined at great expense, and any bottles found to be sub-optimal in color or condition were discarded. The bottles offered in this sale are truly the cream of the crop. Offering so much depth and breadth in the range of Salon, Krug, Bollinger, Louis Roederer, Pol Roger and Pommery through the 1920s and Moet & Chandon through the 1910s is truly a rare privilege for me as an auctioneer. Champagne lovers around the world be warned. Auctions like this are a once-in-a-lifetime event, and I hope buyers around the world will take note of this exemplary selection of wines from three of the world’s greatest collectors!

The entire Trinity collection will be featured on AckerLive, Acker’s exclusive auction platform, which takes place on Wednesday, June 9 and Thursday, June 10, airing live each evening at 6:30 p.m. ET.

The bidding season for Acker continues: On the 28th and 29th. There will be another live online auction in Hong Kong in May, and on the 9th and 10th. In June, she returned to Delaware. Acker is now accepting online wines for the summer and fall auctions, with the online auctions ending each week. For more information, please contact [email protected].
