Portuguese cork organization chooses Colangelo & Partners as agency for US campaign

NEW YORK, NY (July 1, 2021)– The Portuguese Association of Cork Producers (APCOR) has announced the launch of a new integrated communications campaign aimed at reaching the wine industry, wine lovers and the American public. Portuguese company APCOR has reappointed Colangelo & Partners as its agency for the US.

We enthusiastically continue to promote natural cork in the United States as the most environmentally friendly and technologically advanced way to seal wines, said João Rui Ferreira, president of APCOR. The campaign includes a strong educational component, supported by public relations, creative development, advertising, consumer events and promotions, digital marketing and relationship marketing.

For nearly two decades, APCOR has been at the forefront of promoting natural cork stoppers and the use of cork in everyday products. It is the cork industry that, through its products, makes the cork oak ecosystem viable and contributes to the preservation of the forests and the people who depend on them.

Cork is the perfect balance between environmental protection and sustainable development. Cork, a renewable and natural product, is harvested without damaging or cutting down trees that are 200 years old or more. The cork oak forest is one of 36 hotspots for biodiversity and can store 14,000,000 tons of CO2 per year. It is estimated that for every tonne of cork produced, cork oak forests sequester 73 tonnes of CO2.

As a cork, natural cork preserves the quality and character of wine and is environmentally friendly.
