Earlier this month, Cult Wines released the NFT of the original digital artwork for Bordeaux en Primeur. The piece was created by Australian artist, Reece Powell, and was first sold at Flinders Lane Gallery back in 2009. The NFT is one in a series of Cult Wines’ NFT, each of which features a piece of artwork from a different artist that are used to promote the wine’s release in Bordeaux. The artwork is accompanied by a description of the wine and the winemaker.

NFT Entitles Owner to a Barrel of Bordeaux En Primeur, Once-in-a-Lifetime Winery Experiences and Premier Wine Storage & Preservation
NEW YORK (12 JULY 2021) – Cult Wines, the world’s leading fine wine investment and collection management firm, today announced the launch of an unique non-fungible token (NFT) in partnership with Chateau Angélus, a historic, family-owned Bordeaux winery specialized in Premier Grand Cru Classé. The one-of-a-kind digital artwork celebrates the introduction of Bordeaux En Primeur, 2020, with a 3D animated representation of the famous Chateau Angélus bells, the estate’s symbol used on wine labels and from which the vineyard gets its name. The complex design depicts the renowned Saint-Emilion bell tower in stunning 3D realism, right down to the engravings around the perimeter of the bell and the hammer blow that reproduces the sound of the Chateau Angélus bells ringing.
Beginning Tuesday, July 13, at 9 a.m. BST, through Tuesday, July 20, the NFT will be auctioned on OpenSea.
The NFT will give the buyer the right to own one barrel of Chateau Angélus, Premier Grand Cru Classé A, Bordeaux En Primeur 2020 – to be bottled in whatever format(s) they choose* – one-of-a-kind experiences at Chateau Angélus, and Cult Wines’ signature care, preservation, and storage of the wine until it’s ready to drink.

The owner of the NFT** will be invited to Chateau Angélus throughout the two-year aging process to participate in the wine’s journey from vineyard to bottle. The buyer will be invited to a virtual tasting with Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal, Chateau Angélus CEO and Co-Owner, as well as a VIP experience during harvest 2021, which will include a personal wine pairing and cooking class with Chef Alexandre Baumard, who has been awarded two Michelin stars for his work at the celebrated ‘Le Logis de la Cadène’ in Saint Emilion and the renowned ‘Le Gabriel’ in Bordeaux.
With a stay at the famous Logis de Cadene*** and a celebration dinner given by Tom Gearing and Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal at Chateau Angélus, the event will conclude with the bottling of the 2020 vintage. Following bottling, Cult Wines will collect the wine on behalf of the customer and store it in the brand’s bonded, fully insured warehouse, which has been designed specifically for wine storage by carefully controlling temperature, humidity, and other microclimatic variables.
