A new venture for Enartis called Easytech is about to launch. Easytech is a selection of Direct Addition Fermentation products which make the fermentation process of winemaking easier. Easytech is based on the Easy Fermenting System and can be used to ferment any wine type, however, to ensure the best results, the Easy Fermenting System must be used.


Windsor, CA (June 25, 2021) – Enartis is proud to announce a new product line, Easytech, that offers simpler processing methods that make winery operations easier and reduce the resources needed to properly process products, including equipment, energy, water and, most importantly, personnel.

Easytech will supply two yeast additives and two inoculant additives for the 2021 harvest:

  • EnartisFerm WS and EnartisFerm Q ET (new)
  • Nutriferm Arom Plus and Nutriferm Ultra (new)

The two yeast strains in the Easytech portfolio have been selected for both their internal characteristics and their production process, making them suitable for direct inoculation without the need for rehydration to ensure optimal fermentation efficiency.

Isolated 30 years ago from a late Zinfandel harvest from Williams Selyem Winery in Sonoma, EnartisFerm WS is widely known and appreciated for its ability to fully ferment high °Brix grapes under low nutrient conditions. It offers excellent complexity and structure with a gentle extraction of tannins, while respecting the characteristics of the grape variety and terroir and enhancing the expression of fruit and spices.

For more than 25 years, WS was available only as a concentrated liquid yeast because its unique properties made it difficult to produce as active dry yeast (ADY). After several years of research, Enartis’ yeast laboratory has developed a new production process that allows WS to be successfully produced in dry form. Thanks to this optimized process, EnartisFerm WS is also suitable for dry stripping, which makes life easier for basement staff. WS is now Easytech-certified, confirming that each batch has been tested and certified for direct inoculation.

Jose Santos, president and CEO of Enartis USA, stated: In recent years our customers have been asking for dry yeast. A number of winemakers have told us about their success using our star yeast, EnartisFerm WS. We decided to do further research and confirmed that the properties of WS, in combination with the special production process we developed to make this strain available as ADY since 2014 (almost 25 years after its isolation and production in liquid form), are also suitable for direct inoculation into the must without the need for rehydration.

In addition to EnartisFerm WS, a new yeast strain, EnartisFerm Q ET (for Easytech), will be available for the 2021 harvest in North America. The new yeast is a versatile strain that respects the characteristics of the variety, ferments well over a wide temperature range and is ideally suited to the fermentation of high-quality white, red and rosé wines.

Jose Santos added: Staff shortages resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic further justify the need for easy-to-use fermentation products. In addition to the two yeast strains for direct application, Enartis now offers two yeast starters in granular form, which are less powdery, safer to use and also easier to dissolve directly in the wort.

Easytech yeast, in particular the direct graft yeast, undergoes additional stringent quality control so that Enartis can confirm its suitability for new cooking methods. Easytech products are easily recognized by the logo below:
