NAPA, Calif. (April 12, 2021) – Winemaker Josh Phelps, owner of Grounded Wine Co. and producer of premium wines from California, Oregon and Washington, is pleased to announce the continued development of Grounded Wine Co. Sheldon Alexander, who has played a key role as a distributor for more than three decades, has become vice president of national sales for Grounded Wine Co. Alexander will lead the development of Grounded Wine Co.’s new inside sales team.

Grounded Wine Co. is an American project based on heritage, soil and simplicity, producing intriguing, balanced and accessible terroir wines. Based in Napa Valley, Phelps makes wines for a new generation of winemakers with fruit selected and organically grown by trusted farmers in California, Oregon and Washington. In recognition of his unique approach and leadership in the industry, Mr. Phelps has been named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list, as well as the Zagat 30 Under 30 and 40 Under 40 lists.

With demand for base wines increasing significantly across the country, we continue to expand our sales team and Sheldon Alexander is a natural partner, Phelps said. As a respected top distributor, Sheldon knows the business from both sides. Guided by Sheldon’s experience as an industry veteran, we look forward to expanding our presence with our national distributors and customers.

Sheldon Alexander began his career at Young’s Market Company, where he successfully led and built teams of more than 100 employees, received Business Unit of the Year awards, revitalized and expanded market positions in select states, and helped initiate complex mergers. Most recently, he was Vice President of channels at Epic Wine and Spirits, where he built a competitive channel team focused on the super-premium wine segment.

I am inspired by the incredible growth of Grounded Wine Co. across the country, said Sheldon Alexander. It is clear that wine consumers are attached to this high quality brand, and I am trying to increase awareness of these wines among distributors, national customers and retailers.

About Josh Phelps.

Josh has deep roots in Napa, where he was introduced to the industry at a young age and made his first foray into the wine business, Napa Valet, at the age of 15. He continued to develop his business skills while in college, selling wine, working at the grape harvest and making wine for friends of his father, Chris Phelps. Chris and Josh still work together at Grounded Wine Co. and Chris also makes wine for Inglenook and Ad Vivum. Josh is originally from Napaian and his philosophy on winemaking and business is inspired by wine greats he calls his mentors and friends, such as Joel Gott, Kimberly Jones, the late Leslie Rudd and, of course, his own father, Chris Phelps.

With Grounded Wine Co, Josh hopes to build on that legacy and make his own mark in the wine world by introducing wine lovers to his generation in the wine country of his hometown. He works with trusted farmers and childhood friends and his business reflects his deep understanding of wine that can only be developed around the vine. He has been named to the Forbes 30 under 30 list, as well as the Zagat 30 under 30 and 40 under 40 lists. Josh is an Eagle Scout and in his spare time enjoys mountain biking, fishing and snowboarding.
