One of the most important aspects of a winery is its ability to promote their wines to wine lovers in the marketplace. A winery’s marketing team is the face of a winery, and it is a face that is always changing.

As many in the wine industry know, the Jackson Family Wines name has long been associated with Minnesota. Just a few years ago Randy Jackson created the Jackson Family Winery in Minnesota. Now, in a series of recent news releases, Randy Jackson is solidifying his family’s wine investment in the Golden Triangle state by announcing the addition of three strategic distributors; the company names are listed below:

Jackson-Family-Wines-to-Host-Wine-Bites-Bids-Fundraiser3 AUGUST 2021, SANTA ROSA, CALIFORNIA – Jackson Family Wines, a family-owned winery with a worldwide network of wineries and vineyards, announced today the addition of three new distributors in three important states: Illinois, Minnesota, and Pennsylvania.

In Illinois, Jackson Family Wines will be distributed by Romano Beverage. The Chicago-based company is a third-generation, family-owned business with a history of successful distribution throughout Illinois. The company has long-standing relationships in the marketplace going back to founder Donald “Buddy” Romano and now carried on day-to-day by his sons, Danny and Michael Romano. With the addition of the Jackson Family Wines’ portfolio, Romano Beverage will debut a new statewide, full-service distributor, with a focus on the premium wine and spirits space.

“We are delighted with this intriguing new route to market in Illinois with another family-owned company,” Bill O’Connor, Jackson Family Wines Executive Vice President of Sales, said of the news. Romano Beverage has shown a strong interest in our award-winning portfolio. We’re excited to share our best practices and fine wine education platform from Regal Wine Co. in California with Romano Beverage and its top-notch team.”

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to be working with such a renowned wine business dedicated on quality at every level,” said Michael D. Romano, President of Romano Beverage. The Romano family is back in the luxury wine and spirits industry, full speed ahead!”

Jackson Family Wines made a smart shift to Johnson Brothers in Minnesota. Throughout the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s, Jess Jackson and Lynn Johnson, late founders of both businesses, were friends and partners. According to O’Connor, returning to Johnson Brothers was a “natural match.”

“Today, part of my work is nurturing the next generation of family relationships. Knowing Lynn’s boys, Todd and Michael, for the last 20 years and now being able to introduce the Johnsons to the Jacksons and Hartfords gives me a tremendous feeling of satisfaction. Long after I’m gone, I hope the Johnson family (together with the Romanos) will continue doing business with the Jacksons and Hartfords. “This is a fantastic starting point for the next many decades,” O’Connor added.

Finally, in Pennsylvania, Jackson Family Wines announced they will be moving to Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits. Jackson Family Wines is currently distributed by Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits in 13 major markets and the Jackson family has been working with Wayne Chaplin and his family for nearly 20 years. O’Connor noted that he is “excited about the possibilities in Pennsylvania, where we see many growth opportunities ahead.”

In 13 major cities, Jackson Family Wines has a distribution agreement with Republic National Distributing Company, as well as Breakthru Beverage in a half-dozen additional states. “We’ve always routed in each state separately,” O’Connor said, “and although these changes may shake things up a little in the Midwest and the Mid-Atlantic, it will be good for our award-winning portfolio overall.”

Wines from the Jackson Family

Jackson Family Wines is a vineyard-based, family-owned business with a taste for adventure. With his first landscape-changing vintage in 1982, founder Jess Jackson put his trust in farming and a careful expression of wine, an ideal that chairperson Barbara Banke, the Jackson family, and our staff continue to maintain to this day. The Jackson family’s 40 wineries are spread throughout the world, from California, Oregon, France, and Italy in the northern hemisphere to Australia, Chile, and South Africa in the southern hemisphere. Vineyard ownership and sustainable methods are still important for consistent quality, and artisan winemaking exemplifies a firm dedication to producing wines with character and integrity.
