Legendary Chef Wolfgang Puck and Award-Winning Sommelier Jon Mcdaniel Celebrate Thanksgiving and Rosé with a Perfect Pairing Virtual Global Event Los Angeles, California, 25. In November 2020, Groupe Rose de Provence presented Ideal Wearing, a special virtual Thanksgiving and rose wine event with renowned chef Wolfgang Puck and Food & Wine Magazine 2018 sommelier John McDaniel.

The premiere of the film Ideal combination took place almost anywhere in the world at 16.30 PST/ 19.30 EST on online platforms, including Facebook of a.o.Schloss Bern, and will be screened throughout the holiday season after the premiere.

Live from the WP test kitchen at the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles, Chef Park, together with award-winning sommelier John McDaniel, he showed his traditional Thanksgiving recipes and offered the best pair of roses at the Château de Berne, including Inspiration, Romance and Ultimate Provence.

Recipes presented in a special booklet include roast turkey with fresh sage oil and pan sauce, sausage and onion pudding, Brussels sprouts sauce with butter and brown sugar, red cabbage and chestnuts, carrots cooked in honey, cranberry sauce and desserts: chocolate cake and pecan pie.

The name Wolfgang Puck is synonymous with the best hospitality in restaurants and the highest standards in all areas of the culinary art. The famous chef created the brand, to which three companies belong: Wolfgang Puck Fine Dining Group, Wolfgang Puck Catering and Wolfgang Puck Worldwide, Inc.

Wolfgang Park was born in Austria and started cooking with his mother at an early age. The cook herself encouraged Wolfgang and inspired him with her passion for food. So determined and so curious to learn, he began his studies at the age of fourteen. As a young chef, he has worked in some of France’s largest restaurants, including Maxim’s in Paris, the Hôtel de Paris in Monaco and the 2-star Michelin restaurant L’Oustau de Baumanière in Provence.

At the age of 24, Wolfgang followed his friend’s advice and left Europe for the United States. His first job was in restaurant La Tour in Indianapolis, where he worked from 1973 to 1975. In 1975 Wolfgang arrived in Los Angeles and as head of a house in West Hollywood, he soon attracted the attention of the Hollywood elite. He had an innate understanding of the potential of Californian cuisine and played an important role in highlighting it in the late 1970s.

After leaving Ma Maison, Wolfgang opened his first flagship restaurant, Spago, in 1982. Located on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, Spago was an instant success and a culinary phenomenon. Wolfgang and Spago have received numerous awards during their eighteen year careers in West Hollywood, including the prestigious James Beard Foundation Award for Chef of the Year in 1991 and 1998 and the James Beard Foundation Award for Restaurant of the Year in 1994. Wolfgang is the only chef who has received the award for Best Chef of the Year several times.

John McDaniel is the founder and CEO of Second City Soil, a Chicago wine consultancy whose mission is to promote Chicago’s wine culture through marketing and educational partnerships in the wine and restaurant industry. John is recognized as one of the top wine professionals in the United States and works in all areas of the business – from creating top wine programs in several world-class restaurants to developing a revenue-generating brand for numerous wineries around the world. Through Second City Soil, he also works with many wineries, international organizations and world wine festivals as an ambassador for marketing, education and sales development.

The winner of the 2018 Sommelier of the Year Award, 40-40 tasters in 2017 and the International Sommelier of the Month Award, Riedel Crystal, in November 2016, was recently named winner of the Academy Winner of the World’s Best Vineyards. John has been featured in Wine Spectator magazine, Wine & Spirits magazine, Forbes magazine and World of Fine Wine. In 2016 and 2017, five of the top 100 wine lists of the World of Fine Wine magazine were managed by McDaniel.
In 2015 he was appointed Knight of the Order of Snodar in Valpolicella, Italy, and in 2019 he was appointed Knight of the Ordina dei Cavalleri of Tartufo and Vini d’Alba. He is an associate professor of hospitality management at Roosevelt University in Chicago, head of the hospitality department at the University of Texas, Austin, and owner and breeder of the Amos Cellars wine brand, recognized by critics in the Sonoma County wine market.

His new project, The Wine Hive, a global wine consultancy company, is currently under development. Its mission is to unite the wine community to run local, national and global wine campaigns and promote digital content. He is also secretary and member of the board of directors of the United Sommelier Foundation, an organisation founded after the 19th century. COVID-19 raised money for the unemployed and wine professionals.

The group, based in White Plains, New York, is part of the American portfolio of Provence-Rose and includes rosé wines from Château de Bern. Located in Lorge, France, the Château de Berne is a luxurious and charming five-star Relay & Chateaux hotel with a Five Worlds Spa, a cooking school and two restaurants including Le Jardin de Berne, a Michelin-star restaurant and Le Bistro.  Bern Castle also offers walking and cycling tours and various events such as fairs and concerts, and is known as one of the most important wine tourism destinations in Provence.
