Pinot wine is a popular variety of red wine made from Pinot Noir grapes. This wine has a unique history, having been created to meet the needs of the French royalty. In the 17th century, the French royalty required wine with a lower alcohol content, so they asked the monks at the Abbey of St. Denis to create a wine with a lower alcohol content. The monks chose Pinot Noir to make the wine, and the wine was a success with the French royalty. The French royalty’s request for a wine with less alcohol content was actually the original reason why this wine was created. The low alcohol content of Pinot wine makes it a good choice for people who want to drink moderately without feeling hung over.
Pinot noir is a notoriously temperamental grape, making it particularly difficult to produce a consistent vintage, even for the most skilled winemakers. In the hands of Walt Wines, however, pinot noir can be made to be consistently vinous, as the California-based winery—which has been producing high-quality wine since it was founded in 1995—reveals in the release of its latest vintage, the 2019 Grand Cru.
Bob’s Ranch Pinot Noir is scheduled for release on the 2nd. Can be offered for sale
SONOMA COUNTY, CA (April 28, 2021) – WALT Wines, Catherine Walt Hall’s premier elite Pinot Noir producer with three tasting rooms in Napa, Sonoma and Healdsburg, CA, has announced the release date of its flagship Pinot Noir, Bob’s Ranch, and the highly anticipated 2019 vintage.
Freshness and balance are fundamental to this wine, says Jeff Zappelli, general manager of WALT. The 2019 vintage is characterized by intense flavors, rich color and bold aromas. The palate shows an abundance of black fruit, with lingering earthy notes, truffle and spice – this is a very special wine.
Bob’s Ranch Estate Vineyard, owned and operated by WALT Wines, is located in Sonoma County, in the Sonoma Coast appellation. The influence of the cooler Pacific climate through the Petaluma Wind Gap appellation offers cooler temperatures and brisk winds. The wind helps keep the clusters small and pollinates the berries at different times, resulting in both smaller and larger berries on the same cluster. The winemakers blend their best expression from the vineyard from numerous clonal and hereditary selections of Pinot Noir. The result is a powerful and aromatic wine with balanced acidity and freshness.
The 2019 release of the grapes will be celebrated with a number of offerings, including the official Bob’s Ranch release day on the 2nd. In May, customers are invited to visit any of WALT’s tasting rooms in Napa, Sonoma or Healdsburg and receive a bonus beer when they try the newly released Pinot Noir.
