Cooper provides to the companies top-tier luxury sales and marketing strategies.
(May 25th, 2021, St. Helena, Napa Valley, California) – Steele Cooper has been named Director of Sales for the central and eastern areas of the United States by Merryvale Family of Wines, the parent business of Merryvale Vineyards and Starmont Wines.
Cooper will be based in Dallas, TX, and will work closely with the Pacific Highway Wines team to manage sales and brand engagement for Merryvale, Profile Collection, Starmont, and Forward Kidd.
Cooper comes to Merryvale from Rémy Cointreau, where he specialized in LOUIS XIII. Cooper managed the brand’s performance throughout all U.S. and Caribbean regions as LOUIS XIII Vice President, Sales, at Rémy Cointreau since 2017, with a strong emphasis on channel optimization, luxury On-Premise segments, education, PR efforts, and private client growth. He built and supervised the LOUIS XIII Ambassador team in key cities, as well as all programming for the Rémy Cointreau field sales organization and distributor network throughout the United States.
Steele Cooper previously worked for RNDC TX as Director of Supplier Business Development, was a TX Region Manager for The Plumpjack Group, and got his first start in the wine and spirits business as Senior Market Manager for TX On-Premise with Rémy Cointreau. Cooper graduated from Washington & Lee University in Virginia and holds certifications in Financial Management from Cornell University and Digital Marketing Strategy from Northwestern Kellogg School of Management.
“Steele is a talented addition to our team,” remarks René Schlatter, President & CEO of Merryvale Family of Wines. “His impressive skillset in the U.S. wine and spirits business, specifically with the luxury on-premise segment of the market, will be an excellent addition to our efforts, particularly with the Profile Wine Collection and Merryvale Wines.”
This revelation coincides with Pacific Highway Wines’ announcement of strong business growth over the last year, as well as particular growth for the Merryvale Family of Wines’ top skus. Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Merryvale has seen a 55 percent increase in income. The popular Starmont Carneros Chardonnay has been repositioned for further premium expansion throughout the United States after 52 weeks.
“We have a great extended team,” Schlatter said. I’m feeling extremely optimistic about the future of our company, thanks to the success of Pacific Highway Wines and the involvement of our Merryvale sales team, Karen Rosa for the West and now Steele Cooper for the Central and Eastern regions.”
Merryvale Family of Wines (Merryvale)
Merryvale Family of Wines was founded in 1983 with the goal of producing high-quality Napa Valley wines. Merryvale Family of Wines has deep roots with ownership of two sustainably farmed estate vineyards: the Profile Estate, a 25-acre hillside vineyard overlooking St. Helena, and the 38-acre historic Stanly Ranch Estate vineyard in Carneros, which has been helmed by the Schlatter family for over 25 years. Merryvale Vineyards became the portfolio’s centerpiece when the Schlatter family bought the historic property outright in 1996. Merryvale Family of Wines is a family-owned and managed business that produces Merryvale, Profile Collection, Starmont, and Forward Kidd wines.
