New York, 25. March 2021. – Today Giovanni Geddes da Filicagia, general manager of the two wineries of Ornelia and Masseto, announced a change in the management of the two wineries. From 1. In April 2021, Vianni Gravero will join the team as Director of Sales and Marketing, along with Axel Heinz, Director of Real Estate. Tim Banks, who previously held this position, will return to France to continue his work in the wine world.

After nine years of working closely together, Tim Banks is saying goodbye: I personally thank Tim for his professional contribution to the success of the company and for his personal contribution to the team and relationships, for which he will not soon be forgotten, confirms Giovanni Geddes. In the meantime, I look forward to continuing this journey with Vianney. I am convinced that together we will achieve new goals.

Vianney Gravero, French by birth but multilingual by vocation, has extensive international experience in the world of fine wines, gained by working for world-renowned brands such as Philipponnat, Salon and Peugeot Saveurs. Previously responsible for international sales at Masseto, Mr Gravero was asked to take on a new role, which he accepted with enthusiasm: When I visited Ornellaia a few years ago, I was struck by the exceptional quality of the wines and the place where they are produced. Continuing the work of Tim Banks will be an exciting challenge that I look forward to.

The Ornella team currently consists of winemaker Olga Fusari and brand manager Greta Rochoni; Eleonora Marconi and Suzanne Weber hold these positions at Masseto. Elena Oprea is the communications manager for both brands.

About Ornellea.

The name ORNELLAIA is synonymous with fine winemaking and a true expression of the beauty of Tuscany. The winery sits on 115 acres of vineyards on the Tuscan coast, not far from the medieval town of Bolgheri and its iconic avenue of cypress trees. Ornellaia Bolgheri DOC Superiore is the first wine of the estate, followed by Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia and Volte dell’Ornellaia and the white wines Ornellaia Bianco and Poggio alle Gazze dell’Ornellaia. In just over thirty years (the first Ornellaia harvest took place in 1985), the team’s dedicated work, combined with optimal geological and microclimatic conditions, has led to rave reviews and public success in Italy and around the world.

About Masseto…

Masseto is the name of a modern legend: a wine, a vineyard, a winery. The acclimatization potential of the Masseto vineyard, on the Tuscan coast, became clear in the early 1980s, when the first vines were planted, against all predictions, advice and tradition. The intuition was there. The blue hue, the refreshing coastal breeze and the excellent refraction of light guaranteed by the Mediterranean contribute to the fascinating mix of power, elegance and complexity that characterizes the winery’s wines. Masseto has enjoyed international recognition since its inception in 1986.

From 2017, Masseto will be accompanied by a second Massetino wine. They begin their journey through the hills of Masseto on 11 densely planted acres of grapes, on their way from the precious grapes to the coveted bottles of wine that will be aged in the estate’s cellar, designed by the architectural firm Zito Mori and opening in April 2019. From there, the two wines are launched into the world every autumn via the Place de Bordeaux.
