Paso Robles Wine Country’s first virtual auction has raised over $70,000 for the Paso Robles Wine Country Foundation, according to a press release. The virtual auction, hosted on Facebook, is the first of its kind for a California wine region, and the Paso Robles Wine Country Foundation was pleased with the results.

This year, Paso Robles Wine Country’s first virtual auction raised more than $70,000 for local charities. A local wine fan formed to sell wine-themed items to raise money for charity, and in their first auction, this past spring, they raised over $40,000 for the Paso Robles Unified School District.

27. May 20, 2021 – Paso Robles, CA – The Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance (PRWCA) completed the first Paso Robles Wine Country Virtual Auction, which took place on Monday, May 10. and ended on Sunday, May 16. The month of May is coming to an end. This first online auction supports the PRWCA Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides assistance through its high school scholarship program and supports the local community through charitable donations.

In total, 23 auction items, plus donations, raised $72,000 for the PRWCA Foundation. During this week’s auction, some of the most anticipated lots were auctioned off quickly, including the Saxum Current Release Portfolio and the French Family Affair package at Les Petites Canailles, featuring the Clos Solène, Benom and L’Aventure à la table wine families. The 3L PATRIMONY bottle and Estate Experience were also enthusiastic bidders. These top lots generated a flood of bids and reached the highest amounts.

Paso Robles wine country is growing in popularity among wine lovers and critics, says Joel Peterson, executive director of the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance. This recognition, combined with the new ease and familiarity of the virtual experience, created a great opportunity for this first auction to support our local community.

During the six days of the auction, 342 bids were placed on these lots, which were carefully selected by the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance. Unique wine collections and experiences have been assembled thanks to the generous donations of more than 70 participating businesses, including wineries, hotels, transportation companies and restaurants.

The success of this auction is due to the relationships and community spirit of the local industry, said Molly Scott, president of the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance board of directors and director of producer relations at JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery. As a wine community, our growers, producers and related businesses live, work and invest in the local economy. It is therefore extremely important to raise funds that flow back into the community in which we all live. As organisation and Board of Directors we are delighted with the course of this first campaign and the results achieved.

Items that garnered the most bids in Paso Robles Wine Country’s first virtual auction include the latest edition of Saxum Portfolio, A French Family Affair, The PATRIMONY Estate Experience, Turley Wine Cellars Stay, Sixmilebridge | Denner Vineyards Dinner, VIP Booker Experience, Geneseo Retreat, Best of JUSTIN Library, Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon Vintage Portfolio, Paso Tour with organic chefs, Sacramento Kings Game and dinner with Cordant | Nelle, and San Francisco Trip and dinner at The Battery with J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines.

The first Paso Robles Wine Country Virtual Auction drew bidders and buyers from across the United States, in keeping with the goal of bringing Paso Robles Wine Country to a diverse audience. The net result of the auction exceeded all expectations and confirmed the positive influence that the wine sector can have on society as a whole. These funds will not only complement the scholarship program for high school students in northern San Luis Obispo County, but also support other community initiatives.
