SANTA ROSA, CA. (March 10, 2021) – Sonoma County Winners announces that the seventh annual Sonoma County Barrel Auction presented by American AgCredit is now open. The virtual auction begins May 5 and will include library wines and exclusive wines from winemakers for the first time, as well as unique lots that will never be auctioned again. This auction is an exclusive program for members of the wine trade, wine collectors and the media. Attendee merchants will have the opportunity to resell wines that demonstrate Sonoma County’s diversity to their customers and to collectors of ultra-modern wines.

We are honored to showcase Sonoma County Vintners’ exceptional wines in this year’s virtual auction, and we thank our sponsors and winemakers for their generous support, said Michael Haney, executive director of Sonoma County Vintners. Each year we are proud to offer many options that reflect the diversity of our wine region. This year is very special, as we are opening the cellars of legendary wineries to offer only a library and wine cellar.

That’s what the virtual barrel auction in Sonoma County is all about, which kicks off May 5. With a single click, bids can be made that are valid on the 7th. May 2021. Unique wines from popular and iconic Sonoma County wineries created especially for the auction will be offered in five-, ten- and twenty-case boxes. The wine collection library includes verticals and bottles of various sizes not previously available. For the first time, the trade has access to hidden treasures, limited edition wines that are usually only sold in varying quantities directly to consumers.

American AgCredit is honored to continue its sponsorship of the Sonoma County Barrel Auction. Through this incredible collaboration, we have seen exceptional collaborations and unique auction lots that define the exceptional wine scene in Sonoma County, said Clay Popko, executive director of American AgCredit’s regional bank. We are excited about the new lot categories for the 2021 auction and expect the wines in the region’s library to exceed expectations.

Those attending the auction can watch videos from many winemakers about their lots. The Sonoma 2021 barrel auction will be announced in late March.
