June 30, 2016 is the designated date to raise awareness and funds for Rainforest Trust, the leading global authority on rainforest conservation. Rainforest Trust is helping to save some of the most unique and threatened rainforests on the planet. Rainforest Trust is an international non-profit organization dedicated to protecting rainforests and their plant and animal inhabitants. Rainforest Trust continuously monitors rainforest conditions around the world for signs of rainforest destruction. They work to stop rainforest destruction at the source, by supporting rainforests in their natural habitats. Rainforest Trust recognizes that a healthy ecosystem is essential to the well-being of humans and other life on Earth.

Last year, on June 30, the vineyard Rainforest Trust held a virtual wine tasting event to raise funds for the non-profit group and invited anyone who was interested to participate. With the help of a small team, we set out to create a tool that would allow people to taste wine without having to visit a vineyard or wait in a restaurant.

Virtual wine tasting is a great way to get a sense of what a wine could taste like, in a setting that’s much more controlled than a blind tasting. It’s also an excellent way to educate and inform people about wine. We hosted a virtual wine tasting to help educate folks about the wines and winemakers in our bottle. The tasting raised over $600 for Rainforest Trust.. Read more about virtual wine tasting and let us know what you think.

Chufly Imports offers a certified sustainable Bolivian highland wine to raise money for the conservation of the Bolivian Amazon.

WARRENTON, VA, 22. June 2021. Rainforest Trust has partnered with Chufly Imports for a virtual wine tasting to help save an area of the Bolivian Amazon. The live broadcast will take place on Wednesday, June 30 at 8pm. ET. The price is $109 for three bottles and includes three certified sustainable gourmet wines – two reds and one white – with free shipping. (Note: Cannot ship to Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, Delaware, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Rhode Island or Utah due to alcohol shipping restrictions). Packs of 6 and 12 are also available.

The virtual wine tasting includes a professionally curated tasting, information on the launch of the new Rainforest Trust project in the Bolivian Amazon, and a discussion on the social and economic impact of wine in Bolivia. After purchasing a ticket, attendees will receive a Zoom link to participate in the tasting. Participants must register by Thursday, 24 hours. June, register under this link so that the wine can be delivered on time.

Bolivian wines include the 2018 Aranjuez Cabernet Franc, the 2017 1750 Syrah and the 2020 1750 Pedro Gimenez Dulce (fortified). The latter is a rare wine, produced in a small batch of just 67. Additional wines are included in the six and twelve bottle options. It’s an introduction to the incredible diversity of Bolivia’s best high altitude wines, says Stephanie Wester, Rainforest Trust’s conservation program manager.

Since 1988, the Rainforest Trust has been protecting threatened tropical habitats and rescuing endangered species by creating protected areas in partnership with local organizations and communities around the world. Together with its partners, the Rainforest Trust has conserved more than 37 million acres of vital habitat. The organization is currently fighting to preserve the Bajo Paragua rainforest in eastern Bolivia. This is ground zero in the fight to save the Amazon rainforest from deforestation, fires and conversion to farmland. Unscathed in 2019, 5-10% of the forest burned in the dreaded 2020 forest fire season. If deforestation continues, the entire forest, which is one and a half times the size of Delaware, will be lost within a few years. The forest contains over 337,162,504 tons of carbon. This forest is a critical area that will help slow climate change while protecting the livelihoods of the indigenous Guarasug’us people, Wester said.

Last year, nearly an acre of rainforest disappeared every second, an area the size of Pennsylvania just going up in smoke. Biodiversity has been lost, and the carbon that was once stored is now contributing to climate change, Wester says. Creating and maintaining protected areas is the simplest and most cost-effective way to combat climate change. The Rainforest Trust has been doing this for almost 34 years.

The purpose of the wine tasting is to raise awareness of the importance of preserving and protecting the Bolivian Amazon and to raise funds for the protection of this important region. For more information about the project, click here.
