Master strategic thinking and planning for entrepreneurs and executives in the wine industry.

Jan. 25 – Rohnert Park, CA – Sonoma State University’s Wine Entrepreneurship Institute program will go online in the spring of 2021. During this 9-week workshop, participants will learn the framework for building or repositioning a winery and cellar, as well as different models of profitability. Although traditionally designed as a program for new issues, the workshop also provides time and guidance for managers who wish to review and revise their existing plans. The program is led by the extraordinary Dr. Anisya Fritz, a strategy expert and entrepreneur, owner of Lynmar Estate, a family business producing high-quality pinot noir and chardonnay, and author of numerous articles on competitive strategy and international entrepreneurship in leading journals such as Harvard Business Review. In 2021, Dr. Fritz will be the 10th person to offer this program at Sonoma State. The deadline to enroll in the wine entrepreneurship program is 11 years old. In February, classes begin on the 18th. In our new and changing landscape, wine industry leaders emphasize the need for owners and managers who see the big picture, are agile and can adapt quickly to threats and changing consumer preferences. This master class focuses on entrepreneurial thinking, on defining strategies, not only for new companies, but also for executives who want to rethink their overall vision for the company they have already founded, Dr. Fritz said.

The Wine Entrepreneurship Program gave me the time, space and guidance to write a business plan that helped me launch Tonic Marketing, says Sarah Sergel, Class of 2017, Director of Tonic Marketing and Executive Director of the Rutherford Dust Society. The program provided a safe space to ask questions and learn from our instructor, classmates and guest speakers. It gave us a community and a network to exchange ideas, ask for help and access resources.

The Wine Entrepreneurship program is usually taught in person, so this is a rare opportunity for those who don’t live at home to take the course online, said Ray Johnson, executive director of the Wine Business Institute. Anisya is the owner of Lynmar Estate, a small luxury brand in the Russian River Valley that she has managed to grow from 80 wholesale and 20 direct sales to over 80 DTC sales. She is a master of strategic thinking.

Dr. Anisya Fritz is the co-founder of the Fritz Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving humanitarian aid and disaster relief worldwide. Previously, Mr. Fritz was an Associate Professor at Florida International University in Miami and a Visiting Professor at the Stockholm School of Economics in Stockholm, Sweden. She received her B.S. from Loyola College in Maryland and her M.S. and Ph.D. from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia.

In addition to the Wine Entrepreneurship program, the Sonoma Executive Wine MBA program will be launched this spring. The deadline for applications is 28 years. February, with the program starting in April 2021. The GMATs are abandoned by people with more than eight years of progressive experience.
